If you know you know... Norm Macdonald was a comedy genius. I remember when Dirty Work came out, I can never forget it, I was 13. My friends and I were so excited for it, Norm was our favorite on SNL and then he was fired. I was psyched because it was directed by Danny Tanner himself Bob Saget, and co-written by Frank Sebastiano who was from my hometown and went to high school with people I knew, so I was all in.
Dirty Work offers Norm Macdonald and Artie Lange as the sole proprietors of a revenge for hire business, which goes hilariously wrong. Co-stars are Jack Warden as Pops and Chevy Chase as his gambling addict doctor. Chris Farley turns up as a guy who has his nose bit off by a Vietnamese prostitute, Adam Sandler turns up in a hallucination. Shooter McGavin is the bad guy. Dirty Work is a movie that I don't think a lot of people have actually seen. Watch it. It always makes me laugh. After Dirty Work Norm ended up on the Norm Show from 1999 to 2001. In 2000, he made Screwed.
Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, the dudes who brought us Problem Child, wrote and directed the best comedy of errors ever. Norm and Dave Chapelle star in a kidnapping gone wrong along with Elaine Stritch and Danny DeVito. The best part of this entire movie is Elaine Stritch as Virginia Crock, a mean spirited pie heiress. "WHOOOOOO CARES?!" is the greatest line ever delivered in the history of cinema. Danny DeVito reminds me of the Penguin from Batman Returns a lot, if he were a necrophile in a Norm Macdonald comedy.
If you want to be sad, watch some boring artistic shit, be "moved". If you want to laugh your balls off, watch Dirty Work or Screwed. Or Half Baked. Or Bio-Dome...
